Mayday Causes a Stir

Well, the Poetry Foundation (publisher of Poetry, among other good deeds for poetry) has a blog up here about the first issue of MAYDAY Magazine. And Mark Wallace also has a blog up here about it.

Feel free to add comments to either of those blogs -- or, since they seem mostly focused on the reviewing debate and not the actual creative writing in Issue 1, feel free to comment here about the other work in the issue. Or just read it.

For example, I love Sean Karns' poem "My Father's Potato Death" and think David Dasher's poem "Adam's Letter to Lilith" is hilarious and smart and sad as hell.

Okay . . . enjoy. And be sure to stay tuned for Issue 2, in which we promise even more action-packed adventure!

I write to inform thee of the fortuitous birth of Mayday Issue 1. Please go read the issue, and feel free to comment here about anything you find there. We also have a Facebook group, so join up.

We're very proud of this first issue and hope it's only a fraction of the glory that is to come. In fact, we're so happy about this first issue, we're almost jealous of ourselves for having put it together.

Also, we are now open for submissions, so go to the site and read the guidelines and send us something.

Enjoy!
